In March 2019 Lorenz O'tool (from German band Chuckamuck) and Jeremy Tayler (from Australia) got together and recorded some songs on a verandah looking out to sea towards Tasmania.

The two friends have lived in Berlin together, toured Europe with Chuckamuck, and share a love of the good life which they indulged in together and immortalised on 4 track.

Instruments are shared around. Hippies have called it: "Perfect symbiosis"; Snob: "All take and no give"; Surfers: "So natural"; The guy down the road: "Yeah mate!"

What's recorded is the atmosphere, no stinky little booths, just a deck with a small coherent set up. Don't be thrown off by the noise of birds, mates dropping in, conversations, landcruisers and mowers. Just let it in and surrender to the mood!

This is not a studio production, and no White Album. It's 35 minutes to lean back, escape reality and without urge for anything, be nothing.

“Balcony’s Paradise are premiering their cover of the Toots and the Maytals song ‘It Must Be True Love’ – a version so laid back it’s almost supine. There is a beautiful rawness to this track – background chattering intrude and the structure and framework are relaxed and cool. Balcony’s Paradise have bottled in sound the fresh breezes of summer, the endless white beaches of the Australian coastline, the gently swaying gum trees and the endless buzz of cicadas.

It’s bucolic, coming gently apart at the seams but just so relaxing. I would not be surprised is there was additional contribution to the mix by more psychedelic substances. The accompanying video was shot on the Victorian coast – all dappled light, convivial gatherings and gumtrees” – Backseat Mafia
