Coming at you from Maitland, NSW, The Golden Gaytimes release their second single 'Hot As Buggery', via the legendary Half A Cow Records.
The single is the title-track from the band's forthcoming debut LP Hot As Buggery, out March 6th, 2023.
The Golden Gaytimes (featuring members of Muzzy Pep, The Sleepy Jackson, Forever Since Breakfast and The Great Dividing Range) with the one and only Jane ‘Jane-O’ Harvey up front. They're a band driven by the understanding that great music is made with liberal measures of both spook and wonk.
Following the success of their first single 'I'm Tempted', with YouTube views of 380k+ and rising, the band release the new single 'Hot As Buggery'. The song bristles and bursts with a summery shimmer and haze as chiming indie rock guitars ring out over a tumbling rhythm section and keyboard lines that propel the song skyward. It's akin to a lost Australian guitar pop gem, or something from the mid-period of The Chills where hooks were both clever and irresistible.
"It’s 45 and rising quick, my Paddle Pop is just a stick"
In the immortal words of the band, the song cuts to the core of those days and nights where the sweat doesn't stop...
“Do you remember those hot summer nights? Those hot summer days that do not stop?Sometimes they end in a lather, sometimes they end in fire.
It is hot.
Know what we mean?
Summer motherfucker mosquitos piss off hot.
Wet seats left on buses, puddles of perspiration, are not glorious moments.
Mumbai, Bangkok, Mexico City.
Cairns, Darwin, Coober Pedy.
Maitland!
It can get hot.
45° and rising quick.
It’s hot as buggery.
You know what we mean!
